The
month
the
walnut
falls.
Harud is the Kashmiri word for autumn — and for the few weeks when Kagzi walnuts drop in Handwara, Kupwara, at roughly 1,800 metres. Our walnuts come from that window and nowhere else.

Not all nut butters are equal
Most brands use imported nuts, industrial grinders, and add palm oil. We use Kashmir-origin nuts, cold stone grinders, and keep additives minimal.
Kagzi Walnuts, One Valley
Kupwara is India's walnut town β a valley that has grown Kagzi walnuts for centuries, long before any brand put them in a jar. Kashmir's thin-shelled Kagzi variety is sweeter, more delicate, and naturally rich in unsaturated fats. We source directly from family orchards here, 1800m above sea level.
24-Hour Stone Grinding
Heat destroys nutrients. Our cold stone grinders take 24 hours to transform whole walnuts into butter, without heat processing.
Absolutely Zero Junk
No palm oil. No hydrogenated fats. Stone-ground Kagzi Walnuts with minimal, clearly declared ingredients.
A walnut gets one harvest a year.
Everything is worked back from that window. The husks split in September, the valley shells and dries through October, and what comes out of those weeks is what we grind from for the next twelve months. There is no second run.
- Apr – Jun Bloom and set Catkins open; the green husk forms around a soft kernel.
- Jul – Aug The kernel fills Oil builds inside the shell. Nothing is picked yet.
- Sep Harud begins The husk splits and the nut falls. Orchards are worked by hand.
- Oct Shelled and sun-dried Hand-shelled in the village, dried on open rooftops in valley sun.
- Nov – Dec Graded and stored Sorted by kernel colour and size, then held cool and dry.
- Jan – Mar Pressed in small runs Stone-ground cold, jarred and nitrogen-flushed as orders come.
One valley. One harvest a year. We grind from it in small runs rather than milling to a warehouse schedule — which is why a jar tastes of the season it came from.
From India's Walnut Town to your door
Kupwara, Kashmir is not just a location β it is India's walnut town. Generations of families here have grown the Kagzi walnut, prized across India for its thin shell and rich flavour. Faim Farms was born from a simple frustration: these same orchards were selling their harvest at commodity prices while store shelves filled up with nut butters made from imported nuts and palm oil. We fixed that. Directly sourced from Kupwara. Honestly processed. Stone-ground the way it has been done in the valley for centuries.
We connected both worlds β the orchard and your kitchen β with nothing lost in between.
The nut butter
that changes
everything.
Most people have only ever tasted peanut butter. This is something different β richer, earthier, and made from one of nature's most nourishing nuts.

Pampore Saffron.
Grade A.
Pampore, Kashmir grows the world’s most prized saffron. We source Grade A — the deep-red stigma tips only, hand-picked at dawn during the October harvest.
How It's Made
Every jar of Faim Farms takes the same four steps β and nothing else.
What people are saying
Every jar sold, the farmer comes first.
The Kagzi walnut orchards of Kupwara have fed families for generations. We believe the majority stakeholder in every jar we sell is the farmer who grew it β not the middleman, not the shelf. That's why we source directly, pay fairly, and name our orchards.

India's Best Walnut Butter β Straight from Kashmir
Faim Farms is India's leading walnut butter brand, founded in 2025 and headquartered in Handwara, Kupwara, Jammu & Kashmir. We make nut butters built on single-origin Kagzi Walnuts β a thin-shelled, distinctly Kashmiri walnut variety grown at 1,800 metres above sea level in the Himalayan foothills.
Every jar is built on Kashmiri Kagzi Walnuts, with a short ingredient list printed in full on the pack. No palm oil. No hydrogenated fat. No preservatives. No artificial flavours or colours. Where a blend needs an emulsifier, it is declared by name and INS number on that jar rather than hidden behind a category word. The walnuts are sourced directly from 15+ family orchards in Kupwara, cold stone-ground for 24 hours, and sealed within 10 minutes of grinding.
On sugar we are specific rather than sweeping: our Unsweetened Walnut Butter carries no added sugar at all. Our sweetened jars carry a small, declared amount β never refined white sugar, high-fructose syrup, or artificial sweetener. Whatever is in the jar is printed on the label of that jar.
Faim Farms is a DPIIT recognised startup, JK Startup certified, and a recipient of the ICAR Pusa Grant for agricultural innovation. Our products are available on Amazon India and our website faimfarms.com, with free delivery above βΉ1,100 (βΉ100 flat below) across India.
Why Faim Farms Walnut Butter?
- Single-origin walnuts: Every walnut comes from named family orchards in Kupwara, J&K β never imported, never blended with commodity walnut. The roasted peanut we blend in is sourced from Gujarat and declared by percentage on the pack
- Kagzi walnut variety: Sweeter, less astringent, and high in oil content β which is where the ALA sits
- No palm oil: Unlike most Indian nut butters, we use zero palm oil or hydrogenated fats
- Stone-ground: Cold stone-milled for 24 hours β no heat applied at any stage
- Omega-3 rich: Walnuts are the richest tree nut source of plant-based ALA Omega-3 by a wide margin β roughly 2.5g per 28g of walnut kernel, against about 0.3g for pecans, the next highest. Our jars are 75β85% walnut, which works out at roughly 1.9β2.1g of ALA per 28g of butter
- FSSAI licensed: Manufactured at a licensed facility (Lic. No. 11024999000061)
Walnut Butter vs Peanut Butter
The gap on Omega-3 is not close. Walnut kernel carries roughly 2.5g of ALA per 28g; peanuts carry effectively none. Our Walnut Butter is 75% walnut, so a 28g serving of the jar delivers about 1.9g β the Unsweetened, at 85%, about 2.1g. Walnut butter is also richer in polyphenols and Vitamin E. Peanut butter wins on protein and on price, which is a fair trade for some people β if you want both, our Nutta blend exists precisely for that. But if Omega-3 is what you are shopping for, peanut butter cannot compete on it.
About Kagzi Walnuts from Kashmir
Kagzi walnuts grow in the Kashmir Valley between 1,600β2,100 metres altitude. The cold Himalayan winters increase their Omega-3 content; the altitude slows growth and concentrates flavour. The paper-thin shell (Kagzi means "thin as paper" in Urdu) allows more of the tree's energy to go into the kernel. This is why Kagzi walnuts are noticeably sweeter and less bitter than the commodity walnuts most Indian nut butters are made from. Walnuts also grow in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand β the Kagzi variety is simply most strongly associated with the Kashmir Valley, where cold nights during kernel fill favour high oil content.
